It was a pleasure to spend the weekend at the 2020 Darkwater Women In Music at UNC Pembroke to listen to some great music and meet excellent musicians and scholars. I have been selected as the third prize winner of the composition competition. I would like to thank my wonderful performers Jillian Storey Storey, flute, and Andrea Tiffany, clarinet, for learning my work Perceptions so accurately and performing it so beautifully. I would also like to thank Sarah Busman, Professor of Flute at UNCP and Founder of the Darkwater Women in Music Festival, for the opportunity and the organization of this wonderful festival.

Happy International Women's Day, y’all (March 8). I am very grateful to be part of two festivals featuring music by women. First, being part of Prof. Paul Christopher’s program (Insomnia, for solo cello) on March 5 at 2020 Music by Women Festival at Mississippi University for Women. Second, being selected as a finalist (Perceptions, for flute and clarinet) for the composition competition at 2020 Darkwater Women In Music Festival at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke which will be held tomorrow, March 7. It is truly an honor that Insomnia, for solo cello, has been performed by the excellent cellist Paul Christopher at various concerts including the recent concert on February 9, 2020, in Shreveport, Louisiana, featuring music of Mendelssohn, Vivaldi, and Saint-Saëns. I am very excited to announce that I have been selected as a finalist for the Composition Competition at the second annual Darkwater Women In Music Festival. This is a festival that celebrates women in music through papers, panels, and performances to be held on March 6-7 at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The selected compositions including my work for flute and clarinet “Perceptions” will be performed by Catchfire Collective in a live concert at the festival and first, second, and third prizes will be given after the performance. Today was very special to me. I was officially featured as Louisiana Music Teachers Association (LMTA) 2019 Commissioned Composer at the LMTA Conference at Louisiana State University and had the premiere of the commissioned work “Perceptions, for Flute and Clarinet” - funded by LMTA and MTNA - by excellent performers Shanna Reid Drescher, flute, and Victor Drescher, clarinet. I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity and huge milestone in my career. Many thanks to Dr. Al Benner, the Commissioned Composer Chair, for his very kind support. Also, special thanks to Shanna and Victor Drescher for their commitment and dedication and for bringing life into Perceptions.

"The Constanta Symphony Orchestra in Romania presented a concert of music of Dinos Constantinides, Boyd Professor at Louisiana University, on September 20, 2019. Many works from Louisiana were performed and some of them will be appeared again at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on September 30, 2019.
